Many analog threads become productive once everyone agrees on what was measured, where it was measured, and what the reference node actually was.

  • Measure at the component, not only at the connector
  • State probe ground and bandwidth settings
  • Separate source noise from layout-coupled noise
  • Check load dependence and startup behavior
  • Verify whether the reference is drifting or the signal is drifting

If the waveform changes when the probe changes, that fact matters.
